BOOK REVIEWS BY TEACHERS

Book review
Book name – Ignited Minds
Author name – APJ Abdul Kalam
Publishing house – Penguin Group
Publishing Year – 2002
Cost of the book – 150
Accession number – 1385
Kalam throws modesty to the winds and makes bold to present his “I have a dream’’ kind of vision statement to pull the nation out of the morass of doubt that it has fallen into.
But those looking for an erudite discourse on the nations woes by someone who has achieved so much may feel let down.
Yes it is precisely the lack of cynicism that makes it a refreshing read especially for the young reader.
Unfortunately in India Murphy’s Law (anything that can go wrong will go wrong) still prevails. Kalam’s notions may take a while gaining supremacy.

Book Review
Book name – The girl
Author name- Sonia faleiro
publishing house- Penguin group
Publishing year- 2008
Cost of the book – Rs. 150
Accession number- 93

The girl is a slip of a book, just over a hundred pages long, no more than one evening’s read and in the tradition of Elizabeth Smart’s cult classic by Grand Control Station I sat down and wept, it makes romantic sufferings something of epic proportions. A good swift journey for those who care to venture back to that painful place (left behind in adolescence by most practical people) where one can actually die from too much love. At the end it’s a classic ….. beautiful lyricism, poetic passages and evocative description of Goa.
